What is the Job Bank and how does it work?

The Job Bank is ASA's electronic one-stop shop for job candidates seeking employment or fellowships in sociology and for employers interested in posting job openings and reviewing candidate resumes. It is fully searchable by field of interest, name of employer/candidate, keyword, position, salary, and most recent postings.

Fees?
|
FREE for ASA members to view job ads and post their resumes online.
Non-ASA members can subscribe to view job ads at a rate of $19.95 per 30 days.
Department Affiliate employers get a 10% automatic discount on their job listing.
Employers pay $220 per listing per 30-day increment; $176 each additional 30-day increment.
Listings are placed online in increments of 30 days per listing; multiple 30-day increments can be purchased.
Employers with active listings can search candidate resumes.
Payment is accepted by credit card online only; there will be no invoicing.

What if I am a non-member and I apply for membership today?
Can I get access to the Job Bank service today?
|
You will get access to the Job Bank as soon as your membership application is processed and your are given an ASA username and password by email (usually the same business day as when you apply).

What if my department/institution is not a Department Affiliate and we apply for membership today?
Can we get the 10% discount to post an ad through this service today?
|
Department Affiliates at this time cannot apply online. It takes five business days to process a Departmental Affiliate application. For more information on applying for Departmental Affiliate click here or email apap@asanet.org.

As an employer would it be possible for us to cancel our ad for any reason? For example, if we placed an ad for 60 days but found a suitable candidate in 40 days. Can we cancel our ad?
|
Yes. Employers can cancel their ads or make them inactive by emailing their request to publications@asanet.org. Please note that there will be NO REFUNDS for cancelling or making an ad inactive no matter how much time has elapsed between posting your ad and cancelling it.

What if my login to the Job Bank fails?

What if I do not wish to place an order for an ad online or subscribe as a non-member by credit card?
What if I wish to be invoiced or send in payment by check?

We are sorry but there will be no invoicing in the Job Bank service. All payment is accepted online by credit card only. No exceptions.

What if my position does not fit the categories under the Specialty areas?
|
Select "other" from the category list and detail the title and responsibilities for the job description clearly.

I used to get the monthly printed Employment Bulletin. Can I get a printed version of the Job Bank?

We are sorry but we do not offer a printed version of the Job Bank as an option.

Will you still continue to publish the Employment Bulletin newsletter?
|
As of 2006, the Employment Bulletin has been discontinued from publication. It has been replaced by the ASA Job Bank as ASA's source for job listings in sociology.
